We need help in New Orleans to catch "Runners". Dogs
that have been living on the streets, and who have survived two hurricanes
and eight weeks of hunger.

get more people into the disaster area to help us!
They are terrified and frightened pets that have banded together for
companionship. While they pose no threat to human lives, they are causing a problem near airports,
where they will be shot if they put the lives of airline travelers in
danger.
Where the owners have sent in requests for their help,
Animal Rescuers are still trying to bring in dogs and cats from homes
despite slim odds of their survival . The majority of survivors are those that escaped
from their homes. They are under their homes and living on the streets,
but they are so terrified that they no longer come when called.
They are runners. We need large dog traps to capture them. The
animals are running scared and they are running out of time. Many
are having puppies.

Slidell, and New Orleans.

MuttShack Animal Rescuers in New Orleans
spent several nights trapping this mommy and pups. The
first night they caught one puppy, and the next night the mommy,
and gratefully the two remaining puppies were just sitting
outside the cage. Unfortunately the mommy was so skinny
that we had to keep the puppies in an adjacent cage and
introduce them to Real Food while she built up her strength.
