Are you upset little friend? Have you been lying awake? Well, don't worry...I'm here.  The flood waters will recede, the famine will end, the sun will shine tomorrow, and I will always be here to take care of you."  Charlie Brown

On August 29, 2005, Hurricane Katrina hit the United States Gulf Coast, taking many lives and causing billions of dollars in damages. The city of New Orleans might have been largely spared were it not for the levee failures that followed. Unfortunately, New Orleans was dealt a near-fatal blow and the U.S. was faced with the greatest national disaster of its history – the costliest and most destructive hurricane ever, as well as the largest pet disaster in history.

Our Mission Statement:

Disaster Response: To ensure that the animal holocaust that was Katrina is never repeated. To be there when a disaster is imminent and to see to the evacuation of the pets of those who can least afford to leave their homes - the sick, the elderly and the poor.  Their animals may be all that they have and ensuring that they are safe may mean saving their very lives as well.

Disaster Training:
Train Volunteers to be FEMA qualified to enter disaster zones.

Shelter Rescue: To create foster homes for abandoned and abused animals.
To rescue, rehabilitate and nurture them to health and find them quality, permanent homes.
To stop the killing of healthy animals in overcrowded shelters by teaching and implementing spaying and neutering.

Our commitment to Evacuate Animals From The Path of Future Hurricanes:  MuttShack is committed to evacuate 15,000 animals from local Parishes when a hurricane is imminent and a State of Emergency is declared in the State of Louisiana.  We need your help now.
